The ASEAN University Network (AUN) in cooperation with De La Salle University held the 1st ASEAN University Network – ASEAN Credit Transfer System (AUN-ACTS) Steering Committee Meeting on 25 – 26 March, 2009 in Manila, Philippines. Representatives of AUN member universities from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and the AUN Secretariat were attending the meeting.

From the meeting agreed that the establisment of ACTS is aimed at encouraging and facilitating student mobility among AUN member universities. The system will set the criteria to standardize credit transfer mechanism in the region. Credit transfer system that is going to be applied will be adopted from what has been applied in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

The Secretariat of AUN-ACTS, which’s hosted by Universitas Indonesia, in coordination with the AUN-ACTS Steering Committee will develop a database of potential courses and programmes for AUN Student Exchange Programme. The secretariat will also develop AUN-ACTS website that will be operated by International Office of Universitas Indonesia.

The 2nd AUN-ACTS Steering Committee Meeting wil be held in January 2010. The meeting will be hosted by Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
